チェイニー米副大統領と横田夫妻が面会 米国ホワイトハウス（大統領府）のホームページ掲載から
ディック・チェイニー副大統領は２月２２日、東京の駐日米国大使公邸で、横田滋・早紀江夫妻に面会した。娘の横田めぐみさんは、北朝鮮の工作員に拉致されて３０年が経過するが、未だに消息不明となっている。
※０６年４月、ブッシュ大統領と横田早紀江さん、拓也さん面会の写真がホワイトハウスのホームページに掲載されたが、米国が拉致問題を重視していることが再び表明された。
